Antonio Conte starts with a draw at Tottenham

Two and a half years after leaving it, Antonio Conte returned to the English Premier League this Sunday. The ex-Chelsea manager was leading his very first league game with his new Tottenham side. A meeting that ended with a score of parity.

After winning in pain against Vitesse Arnhem in the Europa League, Conte and Spurs faced off against Rafael Benitez’s Toffees. There was no winner, nor goals scored. The meeting ended with a good old 0-0.

Zero shot on target for the entire game

If they were solid behind, the visitors had all the trouble in the world to be threatening. Despite the presence at the forefront of Kane, Son Heung-Min and Lucas Moura, there were no shots on target in 90 minutes of play.

Note that Everton finished the match at ten after the expulsion of Holgate. Tottenham therefore failed to take advantage of this numerical superiority, recording their third straight game without a win in the Premier League.

Tottenham remains stuck in the soft underbelly of the standings. The Londoners, who have won just 5 of their opening 11 matches, are already six points behind on the podium.

Antonio Conte now has two weeks to work and try to move his team forward. After the international break, Spurs will host Leeds United at home.
