N’Golo Kanté: 200 Premier League matches and XXL stats

Kanté has just played his 200th Premier League game and his record is impressive.

This Saturday, at Newcastle-Chelsea, Ngolo Kanté (30) played his 200th game in the Premier League. If it will undoubtedly be impossible for him to equal the 653 matches of Gareth Barry, the world champion of the 2018 has a superb record since his debut in the English championship, on August 8, 2015 in a 4-2 victory of Leicester versus Sunderland.

Almost always titular

Of his 200 matches played in the Premier League, Kanté has 163 for Chelsea and 37 for Leicester. He has held 185 times, proof of his consistency and the confidence given by his many coaches (Claudio Ranieri at Leicester, Conte, Sarri, Lampard then Tuchel with the Blues).

Kanté has an obviously positive record with 118 victories (the last this Saturday against Newcastle), 42 draws and only 40 defeats evening a winning percentage of 59%.

From his position as a defensive midfielder, Kanté scored only 11 goals (including one for Leicester) and delivered 12 assists (4 for the Foxes, 8 for the Blues).

No red card!

But Kanté can be proud of having collected only 30 yellow cards (including one, today, against the Magpies) but above all, zero red cards, which is a real feat when you know the intensity that reigns during Premier League matches!

Beyond these statistics, Kanté has two Premier League titles to his name. The first with Leicester in 2016 and the second with Chelsea in 2017. This double obtained with two different clubs had not been achieved by a player since Eric Cantona (Leeds 1992 then Manchester United 1993). This further strengthens Kanté’s place in the pantheon of the Premier League.
