OL are preparing for their winter transfer window

Olympique Lyonnais would target Sardar Azmoun in anticipation of the absence of several attackers during the CAN.

L’Olympique Lyonnais will be severely cut on the attack front in January. Indeed, CAN 2021, postponed to 2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, will take place in Cameroon in the middle of the season. Like Liverpool for example, Lyon has several African internationals in its team, especially on the offensive side: Islam Slimani (Algeria), Tino Kadewere (Zimbabwe) and Karl Toko Camp (Cameroon) should fly to Cameroon to play the CAN. In anticipation of his absences, OL already have a track to compensate for them.

An old target revived

Based on information from Foot Market, The Lyonnais would have made Sardar Azmoun (26 years old) their priority for this transfer window. The Zenith striker, who was already very close to joining the Rhone club last summer, had finally remained in Russia, because his club had not found a replacement.

Author of 5 goals in 9 league games this season, the Iranian international center-forward (59 caps, 37 goals) will be out of contract in June 2022, this winter transfer window will therefore be the last chance for the Russian club to not to lose their player for free, if he does not extend. A situation that OL intend to take advantage of, being ready to offer 7 to 8 million euros.
