Xavi, Barça must settle one last detail

Considered the big favorite for the succession of Ronald Koeman, Xavi would have given his consent. Barça must now pay his release clause.

Having thanked Ronald Koeman on the evening of Wednesday after yet another setback in the league, the leaders of the Catalan formation should not be long in announcing the arrival of his replacement. Alone at the top of Joan Laporta’s short-list, the legend of Barça Xavi would be very close to finding Catalonia to take the reins of the first team.

Under contract with the Qatari club of Al-Sadd SC until June 2023, the Spanish technician would have found common ground with FC Barcelona during the last hours according to information from Sport. The former Barcelona midfielder will land with three close collaborators; Oscar Hernandez, and Sergio Alegre, his assistants at Qatar and the physical trainer, Ivan Torres.

Having a clause in his contract with Al-Sadd SC allowing him to join his club at any time, Xavi will, however, not be leaving for free. The Spanish leaders will have to pay a release clause of one million euros to the formation of Qatar Stars League. Having left the head of water on the financial plan for a few months, Barça should not have too much trouble paying this amount.
