Barça plan to completely renovate Camp Nou to make it an ultra-modern stadium.
La Liga could soon change dimension! While the ‘new’ stadium Santiago Bernabeu ultra modern (including a sliding roof) should be operational at the end of 2022, it is another mythical stadium of the Spanish championship which could also be given a makeover. A general assembly was held on Wednesday in Barcelona, in order to validate the loan request for the renovation of the Camp Nou.

On December 19, a referendum will be held to confirm the request for a credit amounting to 1.5 billion euros, of which 900 million will be dedicated to the work of the stadium. The construction of a new Palau Blaugrana, intended to host the basketball, handball and futsal matches of the FC Barcelona, is also planned. The credit would be repayable over 35 years but this operation could prove profitable fairly quickly.
The Catalan club believes that it can earn 200 million euros profit per year, or even more! Naming infrastructure alone would pay off 48 million euros annual. If this work were to see the light of day, Barça would be forced, like its rival Madrid, to play a season (2022-2023) in a stadium under construction and therefore partly closed, then a season (2023-2024) in another stadium. . The end of the work is scheduled for 2025.
