Ghana ousts South Africa over huge controversy

Ghana qualified for the play-offs of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in the Africa zone this Sunday, dominating South Africa in Cape Coast (1-0).

The Ghanaians made the difference on a very questionable penalty converted by André Ayew (33e). This snatch victory allowing the Black Stars to beat the South Africans at the post, not on goal difference but on the number of goals scored (7 against 6).

Earlier in the day, the DR Congo had also validated its ticket for the dams at the expense of Benin (2-0), joining there Egypt, Morocco, Senegal and Mali.

On Tuesday, the last four tickets in play will be awarded. These precious sesames are played between Algeria and Burkina Faso (group A); Tunisia and Equatorial Guinea, even Zambia (group B); Nigeria and Cape Verde (Group C); Côte d’Ivoire and Cameroon (group D).
