Winner 2-0 at Leicester, Arsenal can thank their goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale, author of a great match.
That it seems far from the catastrophic start to the season for Arsenal with three consecutive defeats in the Premier League. By winning 2-0 on the lawn of Leicester, the Gunners have just signed a seventh game in a row without any defeat (5 wins and 2 draws).
Arsenal start very strong
Against the Foxes, the Gunners made the difference in the first twenty minutes. From the fifth minute of play, on a corner, Gabriel placed a header that deceived Schmeichel.
The Danish goalkeeper was bombarded at the start of the match and had to work to repel the attempts of Aubameyang (7th) and Partey (11th).
Completely asphyxiated, Leicester even offered the second goal to Arsenal: after a loss of ball from Thomas in his area, Smith-Rowe, in ambush, was not asked to send the ball into the net.
After this bad start to the match, Leicester, in front of his audience, recovered and we attended the Ramsdale show.
The goalkeeper of the Gunners repelled a shot from Iheanacho (28th) before making a superb save on a Maddison free kick just before the break (43rd).
In the second period, Ramsdale prevented the Foxes from closing the gap by interposing brilliantly in front of Lookman (58th) and Barnes (62nd, 79th).
With this XXL performance, Ramsdale confirms his excellent start to the season. He stopped 85.7% of the shots suffered (24 saves out of 28 shots on target) and only Edouard Mendy with Chelsea did better (89.7% success on his saves).
Building on this success, Arsenal is temporarily back to 5th place in the standings, with 17 points, pending the other matches of this tenth day.
