Newcastle tried to buy the services of Darwin Nunez, but Benfica deemed their offer insufficient. They are asking for around 100 million euros.

The winter transfer window will soon open its doors, an opportunity for clubs to strengthen their workforce based on weak points since the start of the season. For Newcastle, this will be the opportunity to concretely launch their new project, initiated by the acquisition of the club by a Saudi investment fund.

While the names have been flowing for several weeks, the Magpies would have a new target. This Friday, Record announces that club leaders have set their sights on Darwin Nunez (22 years old), the striker of Benfica who scored 11 goals in all competitions.

The Portuguese daily also claims that Newcastle proposed 50 million euros to afford the services of the Uruguayan international (6 caps, 2 goals). But this offer would have been refused by the Lisbon club.

Indeed, there are many competitors on this issue. Paris, the Juventus, l’Inter Milan, l’Atletico Madrid or theAC Milan also wish to secure the services of the former player of Almeria, recruited for 24 million in 2020.

As usual, the Aguias hope to sell, and sell well. The Portuguese club have set a clause of 150 million euros for their striker and only want to negotiate around 100 million euros, enough to cool some, including Newcastle.
