Samuel Umtiti’s strong message to FC Barcelona

Samuel Umtiti has sent a clear message to Ronald Koeman and FC Barcelona fans due to his lack of playing time.

Umtiti came under heavy criticism during the summer due to his reluctance to leave during the Lionel Messi saga.

FC Barcelona have tried to get rid of a number of unwanted players in order to raise enough money to keep Messi.

But Umtiti did not want to leave after struggling to come back from several injuries during his time at Barcelona.

It got him booed by Barcelona fans in preseason games, and he hasn’t had a single minute of playing time since, although Koeman’s men suffer from defensive issues with players like Eric Garcia in lack of form.

In the wake of that criticism and the lack of playing time, Umtiti gave Marca an interview, and he made it clear that he wanted to stay and wait for his opportunity.

“I don’t intend to leave in January, I want to triumph here,” he said. “I don’t see myself in another location. My intention is to terminate my contract.

“I am waiting for the opportunity to show that I am very good, even if it is a little difficult”.

Addressing some of the criticism he has received from fans, Umtiti added: “Nobody knows what I have done and what I am doing. The training I do, the double sessions. I am a worker.

“Football is my life and Barcelona is my life. In the end, I had to work harder than anyone in the world. People think I’m doing nothing, that I’m on the couch all day with nothing do, but in the house I work, I train every day. “
