Manchester City enter the dance for Erling Haaland

Real Madrid’s quest for Erling Haaland just got a little more complicated according to AS.

Manchester City have put themselves in the market for the Norwegian striker, who is expected to leave Borussia Dortmund in the next summer transfer window.

Haaland is available for a fixed fee, but this is a verbal rather than a written agreement.

His agent, Mino Raiola, spoke with FC Barcelona and Real Madrid last April, but FC Barcelona’s financial situation is believed to prevent him from suing him.

It is the Premier League clubs that are seen as the biggest threat to Madrid’s ambition.

Real can afford to sign the Norwegian – although he also signs Kylian Mbappé from Paris Saint-Germain – through careful financial planning, but they will struggle if they get into a bidding war with a club of City’s financial might.

The Madrilenians hope to convince Haaland that the sporting prestige he will gain at the Santiago Bernabeu outweighs any financial gain he might get elsewhere and it is the same argument that Madrid leaders have made with Mbappé.

To complicate matters even further, PSG will enter the arena for Haaland if they lose Mbappe.
