“Mohamed Salah is at the same level as Leo Messi”

Martin Keown believes Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah is on par with PSG superstar Lionel Messi.

The Egyptian was in great shape when the Reds crushed Watford, led by new Premier League coach Claudio Ranieri, 5-0, on Saturday at Vicarage Road.

The Pharaohs captain assisted Sadio Mané for the opening goal in the ninth minute. He kicked the ball from the outside and managed to find the Senegal international, who shot past the keeper.

Salah then managed to dance in front of three defenders in the 54th minute before scoring.

“Liverpool were irresistible [samedi]”Keown told BBC One, quoted by HITC.

“This pass from Mo Salah to Sadio Mané was out of the ordinary. We see Salah at the level of Lionel Messi.”

“Everyone is participating now and it’s Liverpool at full speed.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was left in awe of his scorers’ performance.

“He looks like [Messi], actually, and that’s really good, “the German said on the club’s official portal, responding to the Salah-Messi comparisons.

“He’s in good shape and you’re right, the three goals of [Firmino] were really good, the 100th Premier League goal for Sadio and all those great little stories, but you can’t overlook the performance of [Salah samedi]”.

“I said after the game, I cut the goal [et] it was [quand même] an outstanding performance as he played today. It’s really good, very important for us and that’s why we can win football matches.

“Yes, Salah’s goal was very special, but if you go back a bit you might find a goal against Watford at home that looks a lot like this.

“He’s obviously the kind of player who can do that stuff. It’s a good thing for us.”
