The Newcastle club are now very ambitious and dream of being as big as PSG.
“Dream bigger”. this maxim could no longer apply exclusively to PSG. The Newcastle club, with substantial Saudi investments, begins to dream too.
Influential businesswoman Amanda Staveley, who is heavily involved in the project, has underlined the scale of Newcastle United’s ambitions, now that her takeover has been confirmed by the Premier League.
The Magpies saw Mike Ashley’s 14-year run of the club come to an end this week, and fans are now dreaming of seeing a trophy arrive on the banks of the River Tyne.
Not to miss
“Do we want to win the Premier League in five to ten years? Yes,” Staveley said, according to the Daily Mail. “This buyout is a huge transformation. We want to see trophies. But trophies require investment, time, patience and teamwork.”
Newcastle now enjoys support from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), valued at around £ 320 billion.
“Of course we have the same ambitions as Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain in terms of trophies,” added Staveley. “Absolutely, but it will take time.”
