Thanks to nice goals from Kroos and Asensio, Real Madrid beat Inter Milan (2-0) on Tuesday and finished first in their Champions League group.
It was the Group D final of the Champions League between the Real Madrid, leader with two points in advance, and Inter Milan, his runner-up. Even deprived of Karim Benzema, the Merengues confirmed their progress of the moment by mastering the game to win 2-0 and finish in first place in this group.
The formation of Carlo Ancelotti had been martyred by the Nerazzurri in the first leg in mid-September, however winning at the end of the match (0-1). This was not the case this Tuesday evening in the den of the Bernabéu. A goal of Toni Kroos, with a distant strike (17th), put the Madrilenians in confidence.
Real and the fear of PSG!
The Italian champions did not manage to be really dangerous afterwards, to undermine Thibaut Courtois, and the exclusion of Nicolo Barella (64th), after a bickering with Eder Militao, somewhat killed the match. Ancelotti was then able to throw a few substitutes, including Eden Hazard, but it is Marco Asensio who scored the goal of the break with a curled shot in the top corner (79th).
By finishing first, Real of “KB9” will be seeded in the draw next Monday (12pm), but without being able to fall on Atlético, who finished 2nd, nor Barça, Villarreal and Sevilla, who can finish 2nd in their group on Wednesday. Two teams finished 2nd on Tuesday: Sporting and… PSG!
